Rock Castles began in 1999. Founder Max Phelps had worked as a landscape foreman and garden center manager in the Lexington, Kentucky metropolitan area. From humble beginnings in Rockcastle County, we have been working, serving one customer at a time creating some of the most lovely landscape work and naturalistic waterfeatures…sometimes folks visiting ask if they’re man made.
Rock Castles is a small company offering custom landscape design and construction. Waterfeatures are what distinguishes us, but we can design and build most landscape projects. Besides consultations and designing, we create lovely landscapes using both unique as well as proven landscape plants, building stone patios, retaining walls, drainage, rock gardens and outcroppings, planting beds, walkways, taking lawn and converting it to naturalized areas, and creating some of the most natural looking waterfeatures in front yards, backyards, for municipalities and colleges and companies and organizations as well as individual homeowners.
Besides serving up some unique landscape creations for customers, often we gain friendships that last for years. Many times we are called back, not to address problems with our work, but to create new projects, service waterfeatures with an annual cleaning, or design a new landscape when they decide to move to another home. Some customers in out of the way locales have taken us into their homes or guest facilities while we did our creative work at their place. We are more than willing to travel to do your project, and you can get a local estimate if you like and then call us in and see for yourself that we are competitive, plus we do a conscientious job for you.
